The East Texas Literacy Council's annual fundraiser, the BEE for Literacy!, is held on the first or second Wednesday of June each year.Three person teams from area businesses and civic groups compete against each other to raise funds to support the work of the Council. Tickets are sold at Barron's Books and Texas Bank and Trust branches in Longview and at the council office.
The BEE for Literacy 2012 was held on Wednesday June 6 with sixteen teams competing for the coveted trophy. Teams participating include:

The winning team for 2012 represented the Rotary Club of Longview and included Gene McWhorter, Gordon Northcutt, and Rick Brack. Congratulations to this three-peat winning team! The City of Longview won the coveted spirit stick. The Greater Longview United Way was awarded the Golden Hive for its history of support of literacy through ETLC and the BEE.
